Respect for Nature and our Customers
Sustainability also aligns with our studio's values and ethos. It’s about more than making beautiful art—it’s about leaving a positive impact. By prioritizing sustainable practices, SIÓG shows respect not only for the land that inspires its work, but also for you - our customers - who are increasingly conscious of supporting businesses that reflect their own commitment to the environment.
Sustainability is at the heart of SIÓG Botanicals because the business is fundamentally inspired by nature—its beauty, resilience, and delicate balance. By working sustainably, SIÓG is not only honouring the natural world that fuels its creativity, but also taking responsibility to protect it for future generations.
Flowers, plants, and Irish landscapes are not just the materials and inspiration for SIÓG’s products; they’re part of a heritage that we all share and should preserve.Every sustainable choice, from using eco-friendly materials to sourcing locally, is a way for
SIÓG Botanicals to minimize its environmental footprint and actively support a healthier planet. The practice of creating long-lasting, high-quality art and gifts reduces waste and encourages mindful consumption. By creating pieces designed to be treasured, rather than discarded, SIÓG Botanicals embraces a philosophy of preservation, both in the memories they encapsulate and in their environmental impact.
Eco-friendly business practises
-
Net Zero Emmissions
We completed a LEO run Green for Micro course in 2023 which certified our business as having net zero emissions. This was based on our studio utility bills, waste generation, product and packaging materials.
-
Product Materials
Frames used are solid wood, made in Ireland and use traditional glass. Unframed prints enclosed in biodegradable sleeves. Greeting cards printed on recycled paper and enclosed in biodegradable sleeve.
-
Packaging Materials
We minimise packaging to that which is absolutely necessary and ensure every material we purchase to package our products is 1) made from recycled materials and/or 2) is biodegradable or suitable to be recycled again (card, paper-based) 3) only bubble wrap already in circulation (goods received inward).
-
Biodiversity
In Spring and Summer each year, we run workshops on flower pressing. The course includes tips to improve biodiversity in your locality and also around sustainable harvesting of flowers.
We also ensure space for pollinators in our own gardens, where we grow both native and ornamental species for our pressed flower art.
-
Frame Refurbishing
Rather than discarding damaged or slightly imperfect frames, we refurbish and repair these frames whenever possible. This ensures they meet our high-quality standards while also reducing waste.
-
Care & Repair
We provide clients with detailed instructions on how to care for and maintain their pressed flower art, helping extend its life and beauty.
For clients experiencing accidental damage to their pieces, we offer repair and touch-up services to restore the artwork, helping minimize waste and ensuring each piece can be cherished long-term.
